Can an under-13 account play Volta/FUT on a PS4? I cannot get this to work.

I bought my kid - age 11 - FIFA 20 for the PS4 as a present. I am caught up in a horrible complex mess of accounts, and I'm wondering - is it actually possible for an 11-year-old to play FIFA 20 properly?

So, the game fires up ok, but my kid can't use Volta or FUT, as he doesn't have an online account. (I have no idea why online access is required for Volta, as it's not an online game, but there we go.)

So FIFA forced me to set up a PSN account for my kid, which I did. Because I was trying to do this "right", I entered his correct age.

Now I'm correctly logged into to PSN under my kid's account, and the network is working fine. But, whenever I try to access any online mode (Volta, FUT), FIFA brings up a window saying:

"Unable to Login - This account can't get online. There are a few reasons why this might be. See (link on ea.com that doesn't help)"

followed by

"You will not be able to use the online features in FIFA 20 unless you create an EA Account. Go to any online area of the title to try again."

Of course, trying again has the same affect.

Everything works fine with my adult account, so I believe this is due to my kid's age.

I spoke to EA support twice yesterday (if anyone from EA is reading, case #51987690), and they eventually advised me it's because my child doesn't have an EA/Origin account linked to their PSN account.

So I tried to set them up an Origin account - it appears you can't do this on the website (why?), so I had to download the Origin desktop client (ridiculous!), and there was actually able to register an Origin account for my kid.

This appears to have achieved nothing. The Origin desktop client allows me to do nothing useful that I can see - certainly not associate PSN ids with my Origin account. I can't log into the ea website (according to EA, underage account can't log into the website), so I appear to be no further forward at all.

How can I associate my kid's PSN ID with their Origin account? (Or, in a pinch, my Origin account - as long as that won't end up with us sharing saved games/history/progress.)

I was hoping to get this resolved today, but EA support aren't available on a Sunday, so it looks like another day where my kid won't be able to play Volta/FUT.

Does anyone have any advice for me, or has anyone actually managed to get this working without simply lying about their kid's ages? (Which I'm thinking I really should have done from the start, which is, of course, a ridiculous situation to be in.)

Any advice will be most warmly received. Many thanks!

P.S. It's taken my multiple attempts to actually post this message, due to "502 ERROR. The request could not be satisfied." errors on this support website.
