They are not exactly offline modes since you have to maintain connection to EAs server to play. You just are not playing against anyone, but still have to maintain the live connection for the content, so essentially you are playing “online”. The button delay and such happen even on Squad Battles, not so in the truly offline portions of the game like career mode or local matches.
