In case you haven't noticed, the clock moves slower in SB than in online modes. Each game lasts close to 20 minutes, vs 15-ish minutes in online games (assuming minimal pauses, skip replays etc).
So that's the first reason why it's so terribly boring.
The other reason is that the AI is programmed to play the game in a super slow way. Count the number of seconds it takes the AI opponent to take goal kicks (about 6 seconds) and corner kicks (about 5 seconds). It doesn't sound like a lot, but it really adds up, especially on top of the fact that the game clock is slower.
And the final nail in the coffin is the inexplicable delay. WHY IS THERE DELAY IN AN OFFLINE MODE???
