I've been using 87 Cannavaro for the past 50 games and he is really good. He is quick and strong and he has some amazing animations where he just comes sliding out of nowhere to block shots. He also feels pretty good on the ball and his passing has been less of an issue than I thought it would be.

I only used VVD in the very beginning of the game with a 7-game loan card, so I don't have as informed of an opinion on him. Obviously he taller, stronger and has a bigger body type and is a great CB. But given that headers are less of an issue this FIFA, I think this is a good year to be using shorter, quicker CBs like Cannavaro, so I'd give him a whirl.

I also agree with your point about price. 87 Cannavaro's price has been stable and will likely stay that way once baby icons are out of packs, so I think there is much risk in buying him and using him for a while.
