I understand your points but in fact, we (my son, his cousins) are actually unable to play the game offline, which is what interests us most. 

I'm not sure if in this case we could eventually uninstall the recent patch and re-install the previous one that allows us, at least, to play offline. 

Since September, the game (Champions League or any custom tournament) is unplayable. It crashes when we save at certain point (still in group stage). Some users spent a lot of time in trial error approach but they were able to find a mitigation solution: select 24 from 32 teams. No crash and we were able to complete the full tournament. 

Now, after the instalation of recent 1.16 update (that includes Libertadores), not even that mitigation solution is still working. 

Disgrace and a long term issue that has been reported but with no solution till now (It's March!!!! Unbelievable).
