I did think of the windows version as well but the version you have just removes some of the media playback capabilities like removing media player, skype etc. While the game does have in game videos its weird that the game doesnt install properly for you at all. If it were the media play back being an issue the game should still start and instead crash/freeze at the first video but you never know.

It basically installs all the features that is removed in your windows version

Also could you try to make a new folder instead of using any windows standard folders and move the game there? My documents is also a windows a folder which may suffer from access limitations on some systems.
