Have had this happen many times, no rhyme or reason to it, just you got the short straw in these games, then it will swing around and your players will meet their potential for a bunch of games, then sweaty games, then nerfed, then back again. Grind through the crap times and do your best to laugh at watching a top tier player take 5 touches to control a pass before missing 3 open players to hit the defender. My personal fav is when I can see my open player but it will literally not allow me to get the ball there, refusing to through-ball or pass in that direction until the opportunity has closed.
