The player picks favour the guys who finish gold because 1. They get more than before 2. Elite is only 1 extra card.
It just added more randomness and luck to picks because the better players don't get rewarded with better picks. At worst with monthlies you'd get some high rated fodder, now for Elite this week I got 3 84 rated's whilst I've seen loads of guys get Walker from gold 3 etc..
Yea monthlies was only good if you played every week.
The whole gold vs elite argument for red picks is a bit nonsense though. Wider pool of people in gold so obviously more people going to pull better players but the % chance is still heavily weighted towards elite. Biggest problem is that elite 3 vs Gold 1 is pretty bad. Should be another jumbo players in elite 3. Swapping that out just for 3 ifs which are usually trash is bad especially when promos are on and you’re even less likely to pack a scream player etc than a gold finisher
