Lag compensation: is it the problem?
Today I was reading on Reddit this discussion regarding how lag compensation works and why there's so much delay when playing...
Anyone from EA can give some insight? It seems pretty interesting and I was wandering if what it's suggested in the article could be done to help the game

Heres how it works when you play someone with a bad connection you get penalized. Socialism at its finest. In order to keep game synced and make it "fair" for the person with bad internet they just slow down your input. The issue is that it inevitably it ends up that they have an advantage. It would be so easy to solve this. For one instead of having 5 bars to show your connection speed, have 10, and make the threshold much tighter. The only time you should have full green bars if both players have under 25ms ping. I would guess its currently at like 100. Lets put it this way, I throttled my internet down to 512 kb/s and I was still getting 5 bars. I couldn't go lower, so I ran a speed test at the same time and that finally dropped the connection to 3 bars. My pings to easo.ea.com is normally 13ms-20ms. When under load it goes to 180-200ms and I was getting 3-4 bars on connect. So yea me having 13ms ping and my opponent having a 100ms ping SHOULD NOT be 5 green bars. That match up should never have been made to begin with.
