Online Seasons, Invitations Not Working

Invitations for online seasons take me to PS store instead of game play

 

Whenever my friend sends an invitation for online seasons, (or vice versa), when i 'accept', it doesn't connect through to the select sides screen.  Instead goes to the PS store, and is seemingly unable connect.

 

He is in the US, and I am in the UK - could this be the problem?

Apologies don’t know what you mean by game sharing,

 

I had also incorrectly said it was ‘seasons’, for clarity, I mean online friendlies
