That works against poor players, but a competent opponent will just send guys on runs and use 1-2s and wait for your CBs to get out of position, just saying you’re playing with fire long termDuncan1972 wrote: »I dont let them get that far, high line, and wide width. Controlling your CB in a counter is just asking for disaster against a competent opponent, best to use a cdm and chase back and leave CBs to AI. Also, be very careful about using second man press, if you time it poorly, it’s the easiest way for your opponent to score

I honestly find using CB’s easier.. I just drift one way for a split second then tackle/slide the other way and the opponent often panic passes or I’ve read it perfectly and tackle the attacker.. when I try to run with a CDM my defence opens up.
I should probably not play 6 depth mind, as I get counter attacked all the damn time. Makes for some great games though!
Came from 1-0, 2-1 & 3-2 down last night to win 9-3.. POTM Harit’s fresh legs v knackered defenders is an absolute godsend.

Got to be the closest player to do it properly it’s a mix people who control their CDMs usually focus on attacks through middle making attacking their wing easy as they don’t like selecting their full backs
Best way is to start with a midfielder and then not look to take a CB out as once you ruin the CB’s alignment 1-2’s are easy.
Someone that is good at creating triangles you need to swap between midfielder and defender when selecting your defender do not charge towards them jockey backwards to track the run behind, this will slow them down and make them think, whilst they think either choose the midfielder again and steal the ball or select the defender again and move in with jockey and make the tackle.
Majority of players have a single approach to attacking so it’s easy to defend very good players have multiple ways to attack and use skills to mix it up, no matter how good your defending is you won’t stop these players, it comes down to how good you are in attack.
Serves me well usually finish on 23/24 wins

I dont let them get that far, high line, and wide width. Most players who spam counters tend to focus on one side so leave that sides fullback on stay back and mop up the long balls easily.
