Game Crashing without Error
Hi,
I am having a major issue with Fifa 20 - it keeps crashing to desktop. It will crash randomly from 2 seconds after I load in or up to around 20 minutes later (I think about 20 minutes is the longest without a crash).
The game never crashes when playing a match online or offline. It is only from the menu, even when idle. I am using a wired Ethernet connection and internet connection is never lost. When the game crashes I am always still online.
No errors or warnings (sometimes music stops a couple of seconds before crash). I have no other issues with any Origin game or any other game - just Fifa 20. Aside from this issue my PC has no problems at all. I had no problems playing Fifa 19, which I did on the same PC in the weeks prior to Fifa 20 Trial launch - not a single crash on Fifa 19.
I have only being playing FUT.
I have repaired the game and uninstalled/reinstalled it. I have also installed the game via disk (all 6 of them!) . I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Origin.
I have rolled back and reinstalled my discreet graphics card drivers. BIOS is on its latest version and Windows 10 is fully up to date. Device Manager shows no driver issues for any PC hardware.
I also tried:
- Editing the fifasetup.ini file from DIRECTX_SELECT 0 to 1 to force Direct X 11
- Using borderless window or windowed mode
- Not connecting controller until Fifa loads
- Not using a controller
- Ensuring nothing in background is running
- I've tried multiple monitors with different resolutions from 4K, 1440 and 1920 x 1080
- Used DP and HDMI
Event Viewer shows no application or system errors (or warnings) about the crash or prior to it.
I am unable to attach the mdmp files from Fifa 20 CrashDumps folder due to file type (even if zipped - 7z, zip or rar) so please let me know where I can send them.
System Info:
CPU: Ryzen 3600
GPU: 5700 XT
Mobo: X570 Auros Pro
Drive: Intel 660p 1TB
RAM: 32GB Billistix Sport 3200Mhz CL16
Note: No overclock on CPU or GPU. Disabling XMP for RAM does not make a difference either. Also there was a game update and GPU driver update today but the issue is not fixed.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Edit:
I have carried out more testing. I removed the 5700 XT and added an old 650 Ti and installed the relevant drivers. Issue persisted and game crashed after a minute or so.
I then moved my drive to the other M.2 slot on my motherboard but same thing, game keeps crashing.
I then ran a memory diagnostic test and the results showed no memory problems at all.
So I formatted my computer and reinstalled Windows completely. Then installed all windows updates followed by chipset drivers and 5700 XT drivers.
Reinstalled Origin and downloaded and installed Fifa 20 again. But I cannot launch it to test if its working because I get the error: Too many computers have accessed this account's version of DisplayName field missing from registry. recently. Please try again later.
It's a horribly worded error and I gather after checking online that I need to now wait 24 hours or more before I can play the game.
Edit 2:
I now have access to the game again and straight away it crashed after about 30 seconds.
On the advice of a friend in EA I enabled 'Do Not Disturb' mode on my freshly installed Windows 10 and removed all apps from the priority list so that there was no overlay from Windows that could be causing this but this too did not work.
Finally I undervolted my GPU massively in case it was a power issue but that too failed to work and Fifa 20 keeps crashing.
As an indicator that this is not an issue with my hardware - I played Mad Max at 1440p Ultra settings 144hz last for hours without a single issue. That too being an Origin game.
