the update was of 3.34 gb and i also tried the repair game but it did not work.

Please install agaim all VC ++ and DotNet updates located in the game's installation folder:

These updates you should open with administrator rights. All updates you can find on Microsoft site - here.
If it doesn't work for you please attach the dxdiag file to take a look.
