Problem with contracts

Hello,

I'm new to the game and I'm having an issue with some players' contracts. I have plenty of contract cards left but some players I can't seem to be able to renew. I thought I could renew every player as long as I had contract cards. Are there types of players that cannot be renewed? I have tried everything and it's impossible to fix.

Please advise!

@zopotocientos Loan players can't be renewed. you play them for a number of games, which is in the bottom right corner of their card, and when they have no more contracts they're gone.
