Pretend listening to customers, and then secretly undid the game patch for gameplay resonsiveness
After seeing many recently increasing discussions on forumn about the unresponsive/delay gameplay, I also did a little manipulation experiment with my home network connection
We can be pretty sure to say that the consensus is the worse your network is, the more your opponent is going to suffer, at least this is the case for Rivals matches.
Interestingly, in mid FIFA 19, they did try to decrease the lag compensation impact due to excessive high ping and packet loss from one side

https://www.ea.com/games/fifa/fifa-19/news/fifa-19-pitch-notes-patch-6

For those of you who don't want to do the long read of the notes, I'll just highlight the key part:
Some improvements to the responsiveness of gameplay in situations where your opponent's network connection may be experiencing packet loss or high latency.
This change applies to the following game modes:
  • FUT Champions
  • FUT Division Rivals
  • FUT Online Draft
  • FIFA Pro Clubs
  • FIFA Co-Op Seasons

And now looking back at this pitch note, it is a complete joke. Why did you EA just undo the effort made to improve the gamplay responsiveness without even noticing your customers? They probably realized that too many people playing on **** connections and the complaints were even more after reducing lag comp, so just secretly reverted it back. They didn't even have the ball to tell the truth.
But the way they did it is just disgusting and scummy. This should be considered as fraud.
