Can anyone from EA please explain how my player (sane, 99 pace and full fitness) can be out paced by matic (44 pace and no undercard).

Sane was on the halfway line, opponents matic was actually in my area waiting for a corner to come in, my keeper caught the ball and threw it to sane on the halfway line, no other players round him, so I ran at full speed, still with no one near me, one on one with his keeper, as soon as got close to his area matic appears, takes the ball away from sane and goes on score. 

99 pace with a hunter card vs 44 pace basic.

EXPLAIN PLEASE.
