Is Zanetti Really The Choice?
Yes his defending is good with any chem style but 77 strength and 85 acceleration seems pretty average for endgame. If you put an anchor on him he has 90 acc, while that's not terrible, I feel the best wingbacks have mid 90's and upwards pace to deal with those wingers on 99 pace with pace chem styles. If you give him a shadow then he has 98 pace but then your stuck with 77 strength which is ok but not great for an endgame wingback,
As for playing in the midfield, why bother when you could just get Gerrard/Roy keane?
Even compared to 12 token 86 Roberto Carlos, Carlos has better pace, shooting and can be put on an anchor for better physical and yet still get 99 acceleration.
I was set on Zanetti but I dunno who to pick dudes....

I had Gerrard last year and was very unimpressed. The best way to describe him is average. Isn’t a great goal scorer, but he will chip in ever once in a while. Isn’t a great dribbler but can drive the ball up the field when there is space. Is ok at defending. Was just a very bland card in my opinion.
This was my experience of both base and mid Gerrard last year as well. But I'm still getting him for sentimental reasons.

Zanetti is the the best choice this month IMO. He's one of the few prime cards available, he's an elite option in arguably the weakest position in FIFA this year, he has a good nationality, and killer stats. He'll be a top option until TOTS. I'm getting him for the strong link to Mascherano (who is incredible, but a little tough to link).

Your point is valid in my case.
I've toyed with so many possibilities, Zanetti/Gerrard/Carlos+Crespo, recently very much around Butra, but I've decided to go back to a legend at a club that will give more "meaning" and enjoyment to the game, as opposed to what may well be the absolute best long term choice.
I just need a little reinforcement from comments like yours and others I see from time to time, to cement my choice of Wright+Pep.

Exactly. Emilio is clearly the best choice. RB's are not that important. Just go with Semedo, Cancelo, Walker, Arnold, or Scream Trippier. They will last all yr. Their job is to win the ball back abd keep up with pacey wingers, that's it. Plus, Zanetti doesn't even look like an amazing rb. Those numbers look better as a cdm. So, if u use him as A CDM with what, 7 chem? t
Then he would be nice. But, I'd rather go with a million coin striker with a 5* wf.

Engine fixes the balance/agility perfectly and gives some added pace and passing
You could put him as a lone DM with a diff chem or even that chem, in a 2 DM, in a flat 2, in a mid 3, or as a CAM if you really wanted.
He's the most complete and highest rated of any of the choices.
Zanetti gets made worse than a 2k card if headers get added in (don't think it's not possible, we've had 5+ patches in under 7 weeks, they've changed almost every mechanic already) and a fullback without really good offensive stats can only influence the result so much
All the attackers have a lot of flaws, Owen is actually a decent shout if you can use a 3* skill forward, no one mentions him but that card doesn't look too bad.
Nesta is horrible unless you play 1 depth PTB
Rio + Pep is a decent shout but Pep has a few decent flaws and Rio can be replaced by many sub 100k CB's
Pirlo if it was his mid card would be my pick without a second thought but the base card is heavily flawed.

Zanetti was unreal for me in fifa 18. Obviously I didn’t use him last year because of back post headers.

I would have 100% taken wright. That was my plan until I got untradebale Mbappe. But his card looks to be immense value.

Zanetti or Rio are the 'best' choices for the game.
I'm in for Zanetti, with the lack of headers he is going to last all year, he isn't a wingback but will run up and down the line
all have or you can swap him to CDM if you are playing 3/5 at the back

Put it this way mate. I play my best and most enjoyable FIFA while playing with players I love/loved IRL. I have absolutely no intention of ever using the likes of Gullit, R9 etc as I have no emotional connection to them at all.
As an Arsenal fan, I'd take any Arsenal icon card from swaps over the others every single time.

Used prime Zanetti in FIFA 18. never really liked the card and it hurt being an Inter fan. Couldn't jump, his dribbling stats were a lie in that game also. Preferred Bruno Peres fut birthday card and Dusan Basta who was a hidden gem. Same game engine, no to Zanetti for me unless I'm convinced by the reviews. Still got my eyes set on Crespo and will use the remaining for either Roberto Carlos or Nesta.

*might* baby Zambrotta is better middle so maybe they give you a middle Zambrotta instead. It's either you like Zanetti or not. So this you can't get him till Febuary
