Matchmaking needs to be connection priority
Connection in this game is largely dictating outcomes. You really cant have 2 players with massively different connections facing off against one another, it just makes a completely unfair gameplay experience.
One users players will
- not block balls
- not tackle balls
- shots direct at goalkeeper go in
- players slow at going for ball
- players slow down/stop when reaching ball
- miss the ball when executing a pass/shot
- opponent players appear as if 99 reaction and pace to everything
...and much more buggy things.
It's important to note that when i was experiencing this i wasn't experiencing any noticeable lag. But it became obvious there was a glaring poor connection. The game felt as if my game wasn't playing the same game as the one on the server... my players felt mostly responsive, but they felt removed from the actual game/ball. It felt like i was moving my players around on my console, but that this wasn't related properly to the game that was happening on the server (if that makes sense?)
It literally makes it impossible to win games like this. I played an opponent where the same was clearly happening to them - you feel like your players are completely OP.
I've also challenged this by taking players outside of rivals/seasons and playing them in friendlies and you notice a massive difference. And the difference is seemingly due to connection.
Personally i would much rather play against someone much better than me if it meant our connection was equal
- you wouldn't feel screwed over for losing
- playing against someone better you may actually be able to learn or improve
- you would feel rewarded for winning
- you would feel confident that your actions are having an accurate result on screen; whether good or bad decisions
You would gain a similar experience playing against players worse than you too.
Wouldn't you rather be battered because you were outclassed, rather than because balls are ghosting past your perfectly positioned defenders??
This is why i think connection should be the priority factor in determining matchmaking.
Anyone else share these thoughts?
