I don't mind the odd flashback or sbc for a special but these long winded challenges do my nut in.

The icon swaps are more difficult and tedious for sure.
But everything else can pretty much be obtained just by playing normally. For Zaha/Tolisso/Vazquez, you only need to earn 100k XP out of the 150k XP available, and a good deal of it can be earned just by playing the game normally.
Politano isn't that difficult either, if you aren't rushing to finish it. I'm still using my main team, just using different ST and LW from Serie A, and subbing off once they score. In 2 days I've already completed 8/20.

from first 6matches i had 4 that finished 13:14 and the rest was easy...i quit all the matches when i saw in first 5in game minutes that oponent wants to win at all costs...dont care about divisions...i fell from 5 into 8 by quitting the matches, went back into 5 the next day

icon swaps were done in 3 days-picked roberto carlos and i am happy with him
politano was done in 3 hours easily..he is on par with hazard...so yeah,it was worth

Without objectives wouldn't play game. Last year grinded with mega team all year and at the end it was pretty boring.
Played one wl this year and only had motivation for 10 games. Don't think will be playing that anymore. For me it is more fun to grind objectives even for small reward.

Not really bothered about any of the content, SBC’s or objectives. Just playing the game and taking whatever I get.

Objectives are probably the best and worst thing in the game imo, I like the idea of having to use different styles of players & teams from different nations & leagues, it should force a bit of originality in to people's teams. Unfortunately too many people don't give a flying f and just play with the same old boring OP meta teams in history and do everything possible to wind you up or exploit the broken match engine just for a win.
Also, so many objectives don't actually work most of the time. Chip shots, headers, low driven ... half the time when you do them it doesn't unlock the objectives anyway.

I like the objectives, i have only played around 150 games and have manged to unlock every grind able player without even trying

I really liked the idea of objectives.
But i really cba with that obsessive devotion and commitment to the game to stress 2387 matches a week to unlock everything.
Only one i bothered with is Özil.

Just seems a huge waste of time grinding for these cards which (on face value) seem like the majority are average cards at best!

Probably not but you seem to be in the minority. I’m nonplussed about a lot of the features of this game (and very much ‘plussed’ And even pissed at others) but icon swaps doesn’t fall under that category...yet!

It's just the grind. If they made it all online objectives without any restrictions I'd happily do it. But I played a few games on squad battles and it was bloody horrific. Erghhhhhh

I never tried to gain xp points cause i thought all players arent worthwhile but then yesterday i realized i only need 7k xp so played some friendly matches assisted with a defender in rivals and then got zaha. He will be useful for icon swap first owner objectives.

I originally looked at the Icon Swaps as a ballache that I cba with, but I now have 11 of them.
The grind wasn’t as bad as expected and I feel better for it.. I can get me a free Icon or 2. (Ballack & Giggs or Drogba - not decided yet).
The Politano one can eff off though, absolutely no chance I’m even attempting that.

Not seeing lot of special cards in my opponent teams. It looks like the majority really don't care, using good old informs or cheap meta cards.
We might be seeing more icons after secon batch of tokens, and storyline cards starting to get upgrade objectives.
I believe the ultimate goal of EA is to attract as many players to chase objectives, so if big data shows they are not popular, they might sweeten the deal or make it less of a grind.
I've grinded every card so far, but SBC cards should be less expensive or clear you will be using it for 500+ games, otherwise it might be a waste of coins.
To make matters worse is becoming very hard to snipe shadow or hunter chem, so you might get more of a value just buying cheap, fast and tradable CB with shadow, than completing Pique and realizing shadow is out of reach.
Further down the road your skill level will be most important because WL player pick cards will make SBC ones obsolete.

Imagine NOT having the Icon swap and storyline option. The game would be dead. It's free stuff basically, and adds a bit of variety. Granted some of it is a ball ache and dull, but as someone said, the storyline reward(s) can be obtained just by playing the game. I managed to complete it yesterday, and I don't grind out games like some.

My main issue with it is it’s ruined Rivals. I want to play against people who are of a similar skill level to my own when I play Rivals during the week. I don’t want to play against people dropping divisions to achieve some crappy objective in the quickest possible time and the easiest possible manner, like some sort of desperate spoilt man child. And I REALLY don’t want to play Rivals against people who DON’T EVEN WANT TO PLAY THE GAME, they just want me to let them score, then he let’s me score in order to do an objective. What is wrong with this fkn community?

Market is dead
Rivals is a joke
Servers are a joke
Squad battles got buffed plus its now boring
Only reason to play random game modes is for objectives
Only decent thing to do on FUT is Drafts and that is about it.
Had EA listened to when we asked for "Tournaments" that would have been a different story.
EA removed online seasons when they introduced div rivals most likely because they didn't want the playerbase split over two modes but the concept of a chilled back seasons is hell of alot better than sweaty rivals.

Initially I was of the same mind as you. Thought of skipping them entirely. Then I realized, too late, that the Squad Battles objectives were relatively easy, due to them not requiring first owned players.
At the same time, I had a bit of luck packing premier league and la liga players, and managed yesterday to get the third win for the the PL team, and 2 wins for the Liga team. So tonight I'll get my 6th swap player.
Had, surprisingly, quite a bit of fun playing the PL team, and beating some Aguero and Aubameyang teams in the process.
And I've been doing this playing semi-casually (no WL last weekend, around 2 hours of play time per day), and trying to get into div 4 (been in division 5 for a while now, hopefully scream Pique will give me the boost required to advance).
So at this point, there's no way for me to go for any of the icons that cost more than 18 swap players, and at the same time, not sure that I'll manage to get the 12 swap players from the second round, maybe 6 again, but that will still secure me an Icon.
With the pack luck being kinda low, even a low end Icon would still improve my squad.

Its about the only thing keeping me coming back. Because the gameplay itself is shocking. I just want some unique cards to go in my squads so I haven't got the same 11 PL players as 95% of the player base.

its basicly what peopel asked last year for, the ability to 'grind out' players with objectives and suh, and it got implemented.
I agree though, it is a lot (and no, noone forces you to them 
)

Icon swaps are fine, not really too much of a grind. League SBC's must be the most boring content ever seen though and I really cant be arsed with stroyline players

@jonkero as much as I'm excited about using Drogba from the swaps and it's great that I've been able to play for him, it's very frustrating that the only way of obtaining the best versions of these icons is going to be off the market. I want to have the best versions of players not the lower versions!
It's a shame they didn't add Icon Swaps to compliment Icon SBCs rather than replace them!
