I've Lost All Belief In Myself
This is my current record:
Look how embarassing that is. I've been playing FIFA since FIFA 98 and have NEVER had a negative win/loss ratio until FIFA 20. I always thought of myself as a really good player and had confidence in my ability, even to come back from a 4-0 scoreline, but for some reason I'm just absolutely unable to compete against anybody in this FIFA. Regardless of whether they have a pay to win 87 rated team or even a 79 rated team, I get destroyed. Their players intercept EVERYTHING and stick to you like glue for the full 90 minutes. Then as soon as they win the ball back, it's like their whole team floods forward and dominates you.
I go into every game now knowing I'm gonna lose. I don't even expect or hope for a win anymore, I just know I'm gonna lose, full stop. I'm running 4231 narrow with a La Liga squad, if that's of any relevance. I could post my team I guess, but I doubt it'd make a difference as I feel as though I could have a full icon squad and still get dominated.
I don't know if it's delay or anything, because as much as people complain about delay, I've never actually noticed it in any of the games I've played so I don't even know what to look out for.
You'd think after playing over 450 games I'd have improved, but I've actually gotten WORSE since release day. I think one of my biggest reasons for losing is the fact that I just can't make a successful pass. My passes get intercepted by EVERYONE on the opponent's team, including non defensive players. Dembele last game for example made 17 interceptions against me, which was ridiculous.

It´s because the result depends more on the game's decisions than yours and the gameplay is more and more random. So, having better players means nothing since you can´t get the best of them. That´s why also the market is down. Why would you expend coins buying an icon if Rashford, Lucas, Sissoko are similar or better than them? I´m not a good player and with a gold team, I´m facing really good squads and scoring with Giroud the same amount of goals than with Ibra Scream ( or more ). I notice myself that when I win those matches the game was clearly in my favor with rebounds, positioning, etc.

This is a problem that the game actually has a mental impact on people, I'm just casual player maybe 20_30 games a week and enjoy it but i can imagine being drawn into the game and playing it for hours causes frustration, have seen people rage at itbefore, think its important to prioritise it as what it really is.. A game

OP have you tried switching formations up?
Started with 4231, as I do every year. Lost loads against teams playing 41212(2) so I switched to that instead, but the lack of width prevented me from using wingers I like to play with. Liked the control of midfield with the 4 CMs, but also wanted wingers, so I went to 433(2) and struggled immensely to create any attacks. Then went to 433(4), which was better attacking but obviously a lot worse defensively, and it just made me lose even more.
So now I've just gone back to 4231 and gonna stick with it for the rest of the year instead of keep changing formations constantly.

Probably gonna sound soppy as hell but just wanted to say it's really nice to see others agreeing with me and telling me about their own bad experiences with the game. Great to see I'm not the only one who has fallen from grace so hard in this FIFA, after being a decent player for so many years. Thanks guys, appreciate it.

This iteration i started off with a 5:1 win/loss, after the first couple patches it turned into a 3:1, i loved how manual play was rewarded in the beginning but now its all hand holding with the tap of a button to level the playing field...
Needless to say, this game is just a stock market simulator to me now, until they start rewarding/favoring manual play again
That's the thing as well though, people complain about 'delay' all the time, but surely it'd work in MY favour sometimes, yet the teams I play against never seem to suffer from this mythical delay issue haha.

True, but I just can't help it anymore. You see my record above, it's to be expected now for me unfortunately. I can't go into every game pretending I'm gonna win or I'll be even more disappointed.

Bro same here all last year division 2/3 now I’m in division 8 I can’t believe it I keep trying new formations new tactics changed control setting it sucks because I had so much fun last year playing for the 1st time fut n now just taking all these Ls takes the fun away

Bro i swear to god. same here i cant pass i cant shoootttttt i cant scoreee because the autoblocks its incredible against me 😔 i'm elite player but really good i have screen shots beating pro's big pro's.. but now bro dembele,bben yedder, joe gomez, mario hermoso, militao.. and others cheap players destroy me like a noob!! And i feel so bad i was in 1 division after patch so now im in 4 div.. i think every people against me use drop back and keep all the rebounds its so sad my situation in this game right now..

Same here, I’m no great player but know when things are stacked against me. This years has been pushed towards fast players, cutbacks in the box and constant high pressure. Every game is just a chore now and there’s no fun. Says it all that people are having success with players that have 79 shooting yet but my Lineker can miss an open goal or fail to shoot when the button is pressed.
Finishing is more RNG than ever before. Forget about shooting angles, body position and pressure on your player etc. Pass to your striker, perform a few dragbacks and just shoot and pray. Rushing your shots is quite rewarding. Since rebounds are more common in this game than ever before. Yesterday I've played a game in which I had 16 shots, 15 on target while all of them were inside PK box. Only scored once. Match finished 1-1. The other guy only had 1 shot by a lucky bounce. I honestly wonder why I do all this work to break someone down while not getting rewarded at all.

I used to win division 1 with my eyes closed in 16 and 17. Gotten worse each year. Nowadays I'm struggling like hell in D4. I honestly don't think my abilities to play faded away. I think the main factor is that I don't play to the so called meta at all. I never play defensive, always balanced or on attack. Push my players up all the time and taking risk with passing plays, dribbles and skillmoves etc. I only pass the ball back when there is absolutely no other option. Playing to this meta is just boring the crap out of me. Rage quitted a few times when the game was a draw or even when in front when all the other guy does is PTB or pass the ball around their back continuously. I only enjoy this game when playing someone with the same kind of mindset and the connection is actually somewhat playable. Doesn't matter much if I win or lose that match. The combination I mentioned is very rare though.

This does feel like a weird year. The last 3 years I’ve spent the whole year in D1 with a little bit of D2 mixed in. This year I’ve been stagnant in D5 since I was placed there. Doesn’t bother me that I’m in D5 as I really just play for fun but I do miss the multiple ultimate packs every week.
Oddly I keep getting to gold 1 in WL but can’t make it out of D5 😂.

Try playing with wingers and do the usual run down the wing and cut back. That’s how I concede every single game so would probably work for you

It does work in both favors, when the opponent gets that speed up delay you can see them darting in a straight line for a bit, when their tackles are all aggressive and late reaction is another way to tell if the opponent is lagging

This iteration i started off with a 5:1 win/loss, after the first couple patches it turned into a 3:1, i loved how manual play was rewarded in the beginning but now its all hand holding with the tap of a button to level the playing field...
