FIFA 20 wont let me invite a friend to game, option is shaded out?

Is this a bug or what? It also is giving the message 

 

EAS FC Catalogue Update 1 appears to be damaged and cannot be used.

 

I deleted this update (dated April 1st 2020) as suggested in a forum but it still doesn't work.

 

Is this a bug that cant be fixed by EA?
